We keep mentioning everything to do in spring and summer, in the hopes that eventually winter will take a hint… it’s like that one socially awkward friend that won’t leave. So… here is your spring and summer treat guide!

Made by Marcus

You could pretty much get anything from Made by Marcus and be satisfied, but they have some staples that are must-tries such as their Cereal Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream and of course their amazing ice cream bars that always have a new theme (sorry if you missed out on the Easter mini-egg ones).

Sometimes it’s nice to keep it simple. Lics has incredible traditional ice cream along with some extras like banana splits, frozen yogurt and cakes! This is the perfect place to take the whole family and enjoy a nice walk and enjoy delicious frozen treats. They also serve lactose and sugar free ice cream, so everyone wins!

Chimney cakes are one thing that should be on your spring treat hit list, we know it’s on ours! What’s a chimney cake? It’s a traditional Hungarian pastry (with a twist) that’s crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! These tasty confections can be filled with whatever combo of ice cream, fruit and toppings you want!

  • Where: 207 13 Ave SE

We couldn’t do a summer treat guide and leave out Fiasco! Fiasco has some amazing gelato, but the best part is that they always have new flavours and new treats to try – like this Strawberry Rhubarb gelato. Try their treats in-house and then buy some gelato to take home!

Sweet Tooth Rolled Ice Cream

Yeah ice cream is cool, but what about rolled ice cream made on a surface cooled by liquid nitrogen? The reason that sounds so awesome is because it is! Sweet Tooth can make tons of different flavours by adding in what you want to your flavour of ice cream! Teddy Grahams? Sure! Fresh strawberries? Why not?! Toss it all in, maybe you’ll be creating the next popular combo.

  • Where: 206 Centre St S

Village Ice Cream

You know what they say… it takes a village – well at least to make amazing ice cream it does. Village ice cream has some amazing options that you need to add to your hit list, like their new spring flavours: Key Lime Pie, Spiced Banana Coconut Milk, Oh Snap Crackle Poppin’, and Peppermint Chocolate Coconut Milk.

  • Where: 431 10 Ave SE; 820 49 Ave SW and 2406 34 Ave SW

XO Ice Cream & Waffles

What could be better than ice cream? How about ice cream and waffles?! XO Ice Cream & Waffles (the name checks out), has some of the most delicious summer treats in Calgary. They are the new kid on the block, but they are quickly becoming a local favourite. If you can’t decide between ice cream and a waffle, then just get a sundae that has both!

Okay, let’s first point out that these are the most insta-worthy summer treats out there right now – like the cone is a fish (just the shape, not the taste). These asian inspired flavours and treats are going to be your new favourite this summer! Choose your cone, your ice cream and your own toppings!

  • Where: 110 2 Ave SE

Family Dough

This dough though! If you’re not in the mood for frozen treats, then you could always grab a nice bowl of cookie dough! Don’t worry, you won’t get salmonella, this dough is 100% edible and 100% delicious. If you feel like mixing it up, you can always try one of their cookie dough burritos wrapped in cotton candy!

  • Where: Southcentre Mall

So many summer treats to try! If we could change the weather we would, but for now all we can do is prep you for when that sun pops out.
