Here’s a bold statement: New West is the new Gastown.

Located at the centre of the Greater Vancouver region, New Westminster is a city that has been going through a major revitalization period, bringing with it a beautiful waterfront park, new places for shopping, a bunch of new food places to check out. Essentially, New West is giving Gastown a run for its money.

Regardless of what you are looking to eat, New Westminster has a little something for everyone. Check it out!

You’re craving: Not your typical breakfast

Looking for something more than bacon and eggs? Look no further than Angelina’s Restaurant. Angelina’s is known for having the city’s best pannekoek, a thin Dutch pancake that is served either sweet or savoury. They also have Dutch style omelettes and French toast, and of course, a beautiful view of the Fraser River.

You’re craving: Hipster coffee

Right at the corner of Front Street is the very quaint but homey Old Crow Coffee Company. With exposed brick walls and over-stuffed leather couches, this is your next favourite spot to bring your coffee date. We also love that they are serving up local coffee, like Timbertrain and Bows & Arrows!

You’re craving: A taste of Canada

Feeling patriotic? Poutine is Spud Shack‘s specialty. Conveniently located in the New West Skytrain station, you can go classic or try a specialty poutine, with toppings like butter chicken, Montreal smoked meat, or vegetarian chili.

You’re craving: A cold one with the boys

Steel & Oak Brewing Company is proud to call New Westminster home. With plenty of beers on tap in their tasting room from super light to very dark, you’re bound to find something that you will call your new favourite beer.

You’re craving: Chinese takeout

For a fresh take on Chinese cuisine, check out Wild Rice. Serving up a fusion of east meets west in both their dishes and drinks, this local spot will put your usual Chinese takeout place to shame. Plus, Wild Rice has tons of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options so that you can bring all your friends with you!

Make your next food destination New West – there are plenty of options all within walking distance of two Skytrain stations and plenty of green space. Eat your heart out, Gastown!
